Case Study Series: Executive Decision Making
Each year, the Executive Institute devotes three two-day sessions to
case study exercises. Case
studies put Executive Institute participants in the shoes of beleaguered
governmental decision-makers from around the country as they confront
real-world problems, challenging them to find solutions and to debate
what does and doesn't work.
Along with faculty from Harvard, University of Washington, the
University of South Carolina, the College of Charleston and other
institutions, Professor Dan Fenn, John F. Kennedy School of Government,
Harvard University, engages Institute participants in vigorous
discussions of public policy principles. In most instances, there
is no right or wrong answer, but simply the opportunity to learn by
exchanging ideas and experiences.
Executive Strategies Series: Managing on the
Run
Managing in the public sector is often a matter of performing
spontaneously without a safety net. Day -to-day change and
unexpected challenges comprise much of the experience of the modern
governmental leader. Four one-day sessions address topics such as
negotiation, managing change and the shifting role of public managers.
Faculty for this series is drawn from leading business and public
administration institutions in the United States.
