Primaries to nominate candidates for
the November general election are conducted by the State and county
election commissions. Conventions are conducted by the parties. Candidates
file with their respective political party. The filing fee is one percent
of the total salary for the term of that office or $100.00, whichever
is greater.; Certified parties in South Carolina are the Democratic,
Libertarian, United Citizens, Independence
Party, Republican, Constitution,
Working Families, Labor,
and the Green parties. Contact these parties
