(Fire Departments Only)
The South Carolina Forestry Commission is participating in two federal excess programs to help assist Fire Departments in acquiring firefighting equipment and vehicles to increase their rural firefighting capacity.
The Federal Excess Personal Property (FEPP) Program is in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service to loan federal excess property to Fire Departments statewide for use in their fire suppression and fire prevention programs. This property can be provided on long-term loan to qualifying fire departments statewide; however, once the Fire Department is no longer utilizing the loaned property they must return it to the SCFC headquarters.
The Firefighter Property (FFP) Program is in cooperation with DoD and the USDA Forest Service to issue federal excess property to Fire Departments statewide for use in their fire suppression, fire prevention, and emergency response programs. This property will become the Fire Departments property once all program requirements for operability are met.

Legally chartered fire departments may qualify to receive federal excess property upon agreement.
To apply for federal excess property under either program, Fire Chiefs should contact the local Forestry Commission Forest Technician Supervisor or Federal Excess Coordinator (803-896-8810) or preferably submit the following request form: Fire Department Request for Federal Excess Property.
NOTE: If you want to inspect available equipment, or if you need to pick up or turn in a piece of equipment, call 803-896-8813 for an appointment. The equipment is warehoused at the SC Forestry Commission Headquarters, 5500 Broad River Road, Columbia.
