We are lucky to live in a state so rich in forest land. Sixty-six percent of South Carolina's total land area is covered with trees!
An important part of the mission of the South Carolina Forestry Commission is to educate the citizens of our state about the value of our forests and the many ways that trees and the products made from trees enrich our daily lives.
The Forestry Commission has environmental education material and forestry information teachers may use to supplement texts and classroom instruction.
Forestry Commission natural resources professionals can be contacted to speak to groups on forestry or fire prevention subjects. Harbison State Forest offers various environmental education programs by appointment.
