(COLUMBIA, SC) - Harbison State Forest will be closed at several intervals during the holiday season. According to Forest Director Russell Hubright, the closings are a result of budget-related staff shortages.
Recreational users are advised that Harbison gates will be locked during the following periods: November 28-December 1; December 24-26; December 28-29; and January 1.
The forest is an important outdoor recreation destination in the midlands, attracting hundreds of hikers and bicyclists each week. Forest facilities are popular for picnics, reunions, and canoeing.
Harbison State Forest is located at 5600 Broad River Road. The forest lies entirely within the Columbia City Limits.
