LOCAL OFFICER IS TOP CRIMINAL JUSTICE GRAD

Kenny Robertson (Columbia, SC) - A Cheraw man has been named top graduate in his class at the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Forestry Commission officer Kenny Robertson was presented the coveted J.P. Strom Award in ceremonies on February 11.

Named for legendary SLED Chief J.P. Strom, the award recognizes the highest overall average for the grueling nine-week basic law enforcement training program. During the cycle, students are tested on criminal law, arrest procedures, firearms, pursuit driving, defensive tactics, and physical fitness.

Robertson, a graduate forester, is a 13-year Forestry Commission veteran firefighter and forest manager. He now assumes forestry law enforcement and supervisory duties in Marlboro and Darlington Counties.

All South Carolina law enforcement officers must graduate from the Criminal Justice Academy. Robertson is the only member of Forestry Commissionís 40-officer force to ever win the Strom Award.
