FORESTRY COMMISSION NAMES NEW LAW ENFORCEMENT CHIEF
( Columbia, SC)-- The Forestry Commission has named Agent David West to head its law enforcement program. West will assume command on January 17.
West, a Camden native, has more than thirty years experience in the field of public safety. He began his career as a firefighter with the Camden Fire Department, rising to the rank of Lieutenant before joining the Forestry Commission in 1983.
While with the Forestry Commission, West has served as a bulldozer operator, firefighting supervisor, and law enforcement officer. Most recently he has worked as a plainclothes investigator, handling timber fraud, timber theft, and woods arson cases.
As Chief Law Enforcement Officer, West will supervise seven agents and oversee the law enforcement work of more than 30 forestry officers statewide.
