PATTON TO LEAD FORESTRY COMMISSION’S PIEDMONT REGION
( Columbia, SC) -- The Forestry Commission has named Tom Patton to supervise its operations in the upstate. Patton, a 22-year veteran forester, will be responsible for the agency’s work in 19 counties from the mountains to the midlands.
A North Carolina native, Patton holds a forestry degree from NC State University. He worked 16 years with forest industry before joining the Forestry Commission in 2000. During his tenure with the Commission he been a supervisor, a liason for the State Forest system, and an environmental forester.
Patton, a Lexington resident, has served in leadership roles in the Society of American Foresters and the SC Tree Farm Committee. He is a past president of the Lexington County Landowners Association.
