Social Service Block Grant (SSBG)

Overview

The Social Service Block Grant (SSBG) program allocates funds to States to support social services programs for adults and children. The SSBG grants are determined by a statutory formula based on each State's population. States are fully responsible, within the limitations of the law, for determining the use of their funds.

Social Service Block Grant FY 2008 Pre-Expenditure Report

The state of South Carolina is required to develop a Pre-Expenditure plan for disbursing Social Service Block Grant (SSBG) funds and present it to the citizens of the state for review and comment on an annual basis. The development of this plan requires the establishment of a planning process to ensure that priority service needs of the state are addressed.
