Family Privacy Protection Notice

Personal information collected by DSS in connection with the services it provides generally is protected from release to the public by state and federal laws. DSS limits the personal information collected to that information required to carry out the agency?s legal responsibilities. The Family Privacy Protection Act of 2002, SC Code Sections 30-2-10 through 30-2-50, requires that you be informed that, when authorized by law, personal information you provide may be subject to public scrutiny or release.

Notice to Persons Requesting or Receiving Records Under the Freedom of Information Act Commercial Solicitation Prohibited:

The Family Privacy Protection Act of 2002 says that persons or private entities cannot use any personal information obtained from DSS for commercial solicitation purposes. A person knowingly violating this prohibition is guilty of a misdemeanor and subject to the penalties specified in S.C. Code of Laws Sec. 30-2-50 (D).
