Media Recruitment

Broadcast Media: Presently in South Carolina, two television stations feature children who are waiting for adoptive placement. A weekly "Heading Home" series is broadcast from Florence, and a series of 30-second spots titled, "Waiting Child Watch," is broadcast from Columbia during the news and other times during the day. A number of radio stations throughout the state routinely feature public service announcements on adoption.

Internet: Child specific recruitment is presented on the World Wide Web through links to local, state and national photo listing services. An agency online Linking Children with Families Adoption Album features steps to adoption, financial information, adoption preservation information, and an electronic interest form. A tab in the album links to a collaborative site for photographs and narratives of featured children.

Print Media: Forty community papers regularly feature children who need adoptive families. Waiting children receive exposure in agency newsletters, church bulletin flyers and a quarterly newsletter distributed to staff and other agencies. Children are being featured in two child-advocacy newsletters, The Bridge (COAC) and Vision (SEEUS), in addition to occasional features in newsletters of other state agencies.
