|Lanalle Darden, Children, Adolescents and Families (CAF) Director|
|Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, Lanalle Darden obtained her undergraduate degree and master’s degrees in Education and Social Work at Fordham University.
The challenges Darden faced as a young mother of a daughter diagnosed with autism gave her the desire to improve social services and help others with similar issues.
Headquartered in Camden, CAF Director Darden oversees CAF operations in all four counties of the SWMHC catchment area. CAF services provide therapeutic services, which include individual, family, and group counseling, school-based services, and some psychiatric medical services and crisis management, based on need.
Located in 26 public schools, SWMHC’s school-based program is an integral part of CAF services.(more)
|Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center offers an array of child, adolescent and family services at the Sumter CAF , Lee County MHC , Kershaw County MHC and Clarendon County MHC. Services include assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, case management, living skills, employment, housing, psychosocial services, medication management, after hours emergency care and various classes such as wellness and stress reduction.|
|Your Treatment Plan|
|A written plan for your treatment which addresses your own needs, strengths, abilities and preferences will be prepared by your therapist, counselor, and physician, with your participation. The plan will be reviewed periodically for progress towards treatment goals and/or discharge. Your treatment team will begin planning at your admission for your improved level of functioning and for your discharge upon completion of your goals.|
|Your First Visit|
|Your first visit will take approximately two hours. If you have had treatment elsewhere, with your written consent, we will contact former providers to send us a copy of your records. If you have insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, etc., bring a copy of your insurance card so that we can photocopy it for billing purposes. If you are participating in a managed care organization, we will obtain preauthorization for your first visit. After completing identification information, you will be asked for financial information. If you are working, bring a copy of your most recent pay stub. You will be asked to sign for consent to treatment. You will also be asked to sign consent for the center to provide information to your insurance company for reimbursement purposes only. You may also be given a symptom checklist to complete. You will also be given a copy of our Client Orientation material and asked to sign that you have received it. During your orientation, our staff will familiarize you to the building, its exits, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, & fire pull alarm stations. If there is ever an emergency while you are in the building, please notify the nearest staff member. Your assessment will take approximately one hour. If you need to be seen by a psychiatrist, we will arrange for this appointment as soon as possible. Follow-up appointment information will be provided at the end of the assessment.|
|The Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center will respect all aspects of your treatment as confidential; however, there may be times when information must be shared between members of your treatment team to provide the most effective treatment options available. In addition, there are some limited circumstances that, by law, may require the sharing of specific information. Please see our Notice of Privacy Practices brochure and ask your case manager if you have any questions regarding the confidentiality of information discussed during your visits.|
|We give you the responsibility of who you bring with you. Small children are not to be left unattended in the waiting area.|
|Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center is a smoke-free facility. In order to protect your health and the health of others smoking is permitted only outside of buildings & vehicles, in designated area. Additionally, smokeless tobacco is not permitted in Center facilities or in vehicles. Additionally, smokeless tobacco is not permitted in Center facilities or in vehicles.|
|Alcohol or other unauthorized drugs are not allowed in the center. Firearms and/or other concealable weapons, explosive devices of any kind and other dangerous objects, materials or substances are also considered contraband and are forbidden on Center property. Contraband will be confiscated and turned over to law enforcement.|
|The Santee-Wateree Community Mental Health Center is committed to the safety of all clients, visitors, and staff in our facilities. Staff are trained in specific procedures and techniques to prevent and manage a variety of environmental, medical, and behavioral emergencies. While the Center does not utilize seclusion or restraints with behavioral emergencies, reasonable steps including law enforcement intervention will be prudently utilized to ensure the safety and well-being of all persons in our facilities. Clients are asked to report any emergency to the nearest staff. If this information booklet doesn't answer all of your questions, feel free to ask any staff the questions you need answered.
