September 16, 2004 Cheatham Appointed to SC Mental Health Commission Columbia, SC: Harold E. Cheatham, Ph.D., of Clemson, SC, has been appointed to serve as a member of the South Carolina Mental Health Commission. Dr. Cheatham, a native of Pennsylvania, served as the dean, College of Health, Education, and Human Development, and professor of Counseling and Education Leadership at Clemson University from 1996 until 2001. He is presently Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Counseling and Education Leadership. He received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, his master’s degree from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY, and his doctorate in Counseling/Higher Education Administration from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. He and his wife, V. Arlene Tabb, MPA, reside in Clemson, SC. The SC Mental Health Commission is the governing body of the SC Department of Mental Health and has jurisdiction over the state’s 17 mental health centers, two hospitals, and two nursing care centers. Its seven members are appointed for five-year terms by the governor with advice and consent of the Senate. |
