Dasher named Director of Lexington Community Mental Health Center

Columbia, S.C., March 7, 2000 ...Linda L. Dasher has been named director of Lexington County Community Mental Health Center. Dasher, who has been serving as acting director since August 1999, assumed this position March 1.
State Director Stephen M. Soltys, M.D., said, "Linda has been with DMH for 27 years bring a wealth of experience to this position. She not only has worked in an outpatient setting with Lexington Community Mental Health Center, but also started her career at Hall Institute where she was director of Recreation Therapy Services.
"Before coming to Lexington, she worked in administration dealing with aftercare and partial hospitalization programs. She brings a community, inpatient and administrative perspective to the issues faced by consumers."
Dasher earned a master's degree in recreation administration with therapeutics option from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor of science degree from Clemson University. Two of Dasher's prior positions include assistant director of Lexington County Community Mental Health Center and director of Lexington's Community Support Program.
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health has served the mental health needs of South Carolina citizens since 1821. Its 6,000 employees and 7,000 volunteers offer services from 17 community mental health centers and seven inpatient hospitals statewide.
