June 9, 2003 Imbeau Appointed to SC Mental Health Commission Columbia, SC: Stephen A. Imbeau, M.D., of Florence, SC, has been appointed to serve as a member of the South Carolina Mental Health Commission. Dr. Imbeau, a native of Portland, Oregon, is a Board Certified Allergist. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He performed his residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Imbeau is a member of numerous medical societies and currently is a member of the Board of Visitors, Medical University of South Carolina. He is also the secretary of the American Medical Association’s Allergy Caucus and a member of the Practice Management Task Force of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He and his wife, Shirley Frances, live in Florence, SC. The SC Mental Health Commission is the governing body of the SC Department of Mental Health and has jurisdiction over the state’s 17 mental health centers, five hospitals, and two nursing care centers. Its seven members are appointed for five-year terms by the governor with advice and consent of the Senate. |
