June 12, 2002 Carpenter Appointed to Mental Health Commission Columbia, SC - Fred F. Carpenter, of Greenville, SC, has been appointed to serve as a member of the SC Mental Health Commission. A native of Greenville, Carpenter received his bachelor's degree in Business from the University of South Carolina. Carpenter is the Senior Vice-President and Community Banking Executive of Central Carolina Bank in Greenville. Prior to his appointment on the Mental Health Commission, he served as an at-large member of City Council and Vice Mayor Pro-Tem. The South Carolina Mental Health Commission is the governing body of the SC Department of Mental Health and has jurisdiction over the state's 17 mental health centers and seven inpatient hospitals. Its seven members are appointed for five-year terms by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. Office of Communications |
