Jupiter Appointed to Mental Health Commission

Columbia, S.C., June 14, 2000 ... Josephine Jupiter of Florence, S.C., has been appointed to serve as a member of the S.C. Mental Health Commission.
Jupiter, a native of Florence, received her bachelor's degree from Morgan State University in Baltimore.
Prior to her appointment, Jupiter served on the Pee Dee Mental Health Center Board from 1983 to 1991, serving as chair from 1984 to 1986. Currently she is assistant executive director of the Housing Authority of Florence.
The S.C. Mental Health Commission is the governing body of the S.C. Department of Mental Health and has jurisdiction over the state's 17 mental health centers and seven inpatient hospitals. Its seven members are appointed for five-year terms by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate.
