DMH Employee Receives Order of the Silver Crescent
Columbia, SC: Dr. Jaime Condom, director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services for the SC Department of Mental Health, received the Order of the Silver Crescent Wednesday, Feb. 20.
In a letter to Dr. Condom, Governor Hodges said, " You have been a strong advocate for the mentally ill in South Carolina, and your leadership is vitally important to the continued wellbeing of our mental health system. Your years with the Department of Mental Health are a testament to your devotion to the highest ideals of public service."
Dr. Condom served as director of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (formerly SC State Hospital) for 18 years and will retire March 1. He also served as an interim state director of the Department of Mental Health.
The Order of the Silver Crescent is awarded by the Governor of South Carolina for exemplary performance, contribution and achievement within the community. It is the state's highest award for volunteer and community service.
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health has served the mental health needs of South Carolina citizens since 1821. Its 5,500 employees and 8,000 volunteers offer services from 17 community mental health centers and seven inpatient hospitals statewide.
