Howard Appointed to SC Mental Health Commission
Columbia, SC: H. Lloyd Howard of Landrum, SC, has been appointed to serve as a member of the South Carolina Mental Health Commission, representing the Fourth Congressional District.
Mr. Howard is an attorney in private practice in Landrum, SC. with licensure to practice in both North and South Carolina. He previously worked with the SC Department of Mental Health from 1974 until 1995 as a psychologist and director of the Tri-County Mental Health Center, Bennettsville, SC, and as a psychologist with the Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center.
He received his bachelorís degree in history and political science from Berea College in Berea, KY, his masterís degree from Francis College in Fort Wayne, IN, and his juris doctorate degree from Campbell University School of Law in Buies Creek, NC.
The SC Mental Health Commission is the governing body of the SC Department of Mental Health and has jurisdiction over the stateís 17 mental health centers, two hospitals, and two nursing care centers. Its seven members are appointed for five-year terms by the governor with advice and consent of the Senate.
