For Immediate Release Wilson Named Director of Catawba Community Mental Health Center Columbia, SC - John Wilson, M.A., has been named director of Catawba Community Mental Health Center in Rock Hill, S.C. Wilson, who has been interim director of the center since December 13, 2001, assumed this position in August. A native of San Francisco, Wilson earned a master's degree in clinical psychology and a bachelor's degree in special education/counseling from Antioch University in San Francisco. He has worked in the human services field for more than 30 years and participated in several pilot research studies, including the Department of Mental Health's Cultural Competency Training and Forensic Services Programs. State Mental Health Director George Gintoli said, "Mr. Wilson is an exceptional person, and I am happy to have him as the director of the Catawba Center. It is a great opportunity for the Center and the Department of Mental Health." Catawba Community Mental Health Center provides services to the citizens of Chester, Lancaster and York counties. Programs offered include community mental health outpatient services, including crisis management, short-term acute outpatient care, school-based services, family preservation, continuing care and psychosocial rehabilitation, and Toward Local Care (TLC) projects. The South Carolina Department of Mental Health provides services through a network of 17 community mental health centers, five hospitals, and two nursing care centers. |
