Pee Dee Mental Health Center Names New Executive Director
Columbia, SC: Officials at the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) and the board of the Pee Dee Mental Health Center announced today that Charles Main, Ph.D., has been named executive director of the mental health center. Dr. Main has over 20 years experience as president, CEO, and director of public and private non-profit organizations.
According to State Mental Health Director George P. Gintoli, “Dr. Main brings a great deal of experience in administering companies in providing residential services for developmentally disabled and mentally ill clients. He has directed a staff of over 500, with a budget of $25 million, providing outpatient, partial care, group home, supervised apartment, semi-independent living and home care services to over 1,500 clients.”
Dr. Main is a graduate of Illinois State University, Arizona State University, and received his Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He is a member of numerous professional and community organizations.
The South Carolina Department of Mental Health provides services through a network of 17 community mental health centers, five hospitals, and two nursing care centers.
