James H. Scully, Jr., M.D., has been appointed Interim State Director of the S.C. Department of Mental Health Contact: Geoff Mason (803) 898-8337 April 14, 2000-Columbia, SC: Today, the S.C. Mental Health Commission announced that James H. Scully, Jr., M.D., has been appointed interim director of the S.C. Department of Mental Health. This appointment was necessitated by the April 12, 2000, resignation of State Director Stephen M.. Soltys, M.D. Dr. Scully will serve until a permanent director is named. Dr. Scully currently is professor and chair of the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science at the USC School of Medicine. He also is head of the Division of Education, Training and Research for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. He has been with the School of Medicine and the Department of Mental Health since 1996. A psychiatrist, Dr. Scully earned his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his doctorate in medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine. |
