How to Access Services

We provide services based on the SC Department of Mental Health’s mission statement which gives priority of treatment to adults with severe and persistent mental illness, children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families, and persons experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

To access services, Richland County adults should call or visit our Emergency Services unit for an assessment.  For children and adolescent services in Richland County, call our Child, Adolescent & Family unit; you will be mailed an intake questionnaire to complete and send back.  After we receive the completed form, someone will call you to schedule an appointment for an assessment.  Fairfield County residents should call or visit the Fairfield Clinic for an assessment.

The assessment by a Mental Health Professional determines if our services are appropriate for you.  More than one contact may be needed to determine if you meet our eligibility criteria.  We may require a urine drug screen to assist in the assessment process.  If we determine you would be best served by another organization, you will be referred there.

Fees and Payments

Fees for services are set by the SC Department of Mental Health.  Payment (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, cash, check, Visa or MasterCard) is expected at the time of services.  Some clients may be eligible for reduced fees based on their financial status.   For billing questions, call 803-898-4880.
