May 20, 2003 the South Carolina
Department of Mental Health announced the winners of Round
IV of the Art of Recovery Project. This marks
the fourth gallery opening featuring the artwork of SCDMH
consumers. The three top winners were inducted into
the prestigious "Order of the Brush." |

Visitors are encouraged to tour the building and see the mixed
media exhibit, which includes watercolor, mosaics, and pastels.
The Art of Recovery Project is made possible in part through a
grant from the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington
Counties, the South Carolina Arts Commission, and the Central
Carolina Community Foundation. |

| The Art of Recovery
project is designed to put the spotlight on individuals who
live with mental illnesses, and to remind the public that
consumers are much more than just a diagnosis. The Art
of Recovery was launched in 2001. |
