- The SC
Mission 2011-Midlands is a healthcare
event bringing South Carolina providers and volunteers together
offering FREE dental, medical and comprehensive vision exams to low
income uninsured residents! The SC
Commission for Minority Affairs
is a parnter of this event and staff will be attending as volunteers.
The event will be on Friday, August 5th from 6 AM- 10 PM and Saturday,
August 6th from 6 AM - 4 PM with Dental treatment running 36 hours starting Friday morning at the Carolina Coliseum in Columbia,
SC.
The purpose of the event is two-fold: 1.) to meet immediate healthcare
needs and 2.) to link patients served to a medical home and follow-up
care. Medical services will include general primary care services.
Dental and vision services including fillings, extractions, cleanings
and comprehensive vision exams. Enrollment/referral into state programs
(such as food stamps and Medicaid) and health education will also be
